I am neither Catholic nor religious but Pope Francis is a hero, and you should know why.
He believes in evolution
He is the first Pope to acknowledge evolution
He once declared that the the theories of evolution and the Big Bang are real and God is not “a magician with a magic wand”.
His views on immigration
He is someone who has constantly been voicing support for immigrants, irrespective of religion and region.
He even washed the foot of Muslim, Orthodox, Hindu and Catholic refugees, in the Easter week on march 2016, to drown the anti Muslim, anti immigrantion propaganda.
He is a socialist
He is someone who believes that people should live collectively in harmony, and lift each other up.
He even voiced his admiration for "Bernie Sanders" (a socialist Jew) in the American elections.
His support for the homosexual community.
While many religions especially Christianity are against homosexuals, and have been discriminating them for decades, Pope Francis announced that, Christian should apologize to the gay community.
"The Church must ask forgiveness for not behaving many times -- when I say the Church, I mean Christians! The Church is holy, we are sinners!".
Though religion has not been associated with goodness lately, it is refreshing to see wise people like Pope Francis at the helm of one of the largest religions in the world.
