What?
President Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey has announced an emergency period of 3 months.
Why?
This was announced to allow him greater access and mobility to find and punish everyone who was involved in the failed military coup (15, July, 2016).
How?
Erdogan a conservative Muslim, is already accused of limiting the free speech of the media and citizens alike, has gone further since the day the military coup which was orchestrated by some sections of the army, to bring back secularism to the country, failed.
He had detained nearly 50,000 soldiers, college students and clerics. On 21 July he announced a three month emergency period to help facilitate the investigation. Erdogan had promised that he had not circumvented the constitution, in any of the steps he had taken after the coup, and also stated that the emergency will not affect the rights of ordinary citizens.
And so
Tayyip Erdogan a conservative politician and an Islamist will do anything to stay in power. He would arrest and kill many thousands of people if he has to, but he is the democratically elected candidate, Erdogan still enjoys the support of the vast majority of people, and democracy should get to decide who gets to rule, even if they pick a moron, it's still something the majority wants.
Learned people of Turkey and the world should stop trying to push their opinions in the throats of common people by force, rather fight democratic elections and wait for people to transform or accept ideologies.
