Syrians ( especially Sunni majority) fed up with the Oppressive regime of President Bashar Al Assad rose against Syrian government, forming "Free Syrian Army". Iranians and Russians came to help Assad, while USA, Turkey and Saudi Arabia pitched in to help the rebels, ISIS used the chance to capture territories in Syria.
